Five years ago I started my Ubiquiti journey with an AP. My Meraki AP with my Cisco employee discount had a license expiring. Four and a half years ago, I went all in and converted my entire network to all Ubiquiti. It gave me familiar features I had from Meraki and Cisco devices but at the a price I could afford. The Unifi Dream Machine Pro (UDMP) became the core of my build with plans for growth. An old post details what the start of that journey looked like.
And then at 10:30am on a weekday, in the middle of a meeting, my UDMP died. No sounds, no lights, no power, just a paper weight.
Fortunately I live near a Microcenter which sells UniFi gear and as my luck would have it, I was able to get an amazing deal on UDMP-SE for a 1-1 swap. I brought it home, immediately started the restore process from a week old backup, and I was up for a call by 1:00pm. Super thankful to past me for setting up cloud backups!
